Ray Electric Past, Present, and Future
After losing his job as a piano player in the silent movies (when “talkies” came of age in the 1930’s), Ray Sr. opened the doors to Raymond DeSteiger Inc. Electrical Distributors on Gratiot and French Road in Detroit in 1939. Eleven years later, his son, Ray Jr., joined the company and began to focus on the electrical contractor market.
In 1997, Ray Jr. was honored with the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the industry. His tremendous impact on Ray Electric, the electrical industry, and the community at large is still apparent in how we engage both our customers and our employees.
Past

Through his charismatic leadership and vision, Ray Jr. paved the road for Ray Electric to expand its service to contractors across Southeast Michigan. We now operate out of four locations to make sure our customers receive top-level service no matter where their job takes them.
Whether it is residential, commercial, industrial, or institutional projects, we hold a Customer First attitude to insure that we meet our customers’ every need.
